Merry Christmas!! What better way to celebrate Christmas than showing you a new DIY decoration idea? I am grateful to be spending today with my family and couldn't feel more blessed that I am able to be home with them. This year has been one heck of a year. I feel so grateful that I have had some amazing opportunities and got to truly enjoy little moments with some of the best people around. Part of my appreciation for Christmas comes from my mom and her attention to detail. She always decorates their house in the most beautiful way.
For today's DIY Living post, my brother in law made this adorable wood framed chicken wire display. He made me one for Christmas and I am in love. He made quite a few for various family members and all of them turned out great. My sister has one in her house and decorated it similarly. I went around my parents house and snagged a few items to decorate this one with. It is great for greeting cards, Christmas decorations and of course I had to add twinkle lights. It is the perfect addition to any home. My mom hung hers on a wall in their hallway and after I decorated this one, she decided to leave it up. I think it's funny cause I was never that girl who liked to decorate, but having a space of my own has changed that. I actually enjoy it now!
All gifts and stuff aside, the real reason for the season is Jesus. I pray no one forgets that.
Hope you all have a wonderful Christmas today, filled with love and laughter! God bless!

This past weekend was one to remember. My family and I celebrated Christmas a little early so that we could be with our close family all at once. Since we all live in different cities now, it has become very hard to get everyone together. Luckily, everyone was able to make it on Saturday and it was nice to get some much needed relaxation at the same time.
I have to tell you, my mom is a pro when it comes to decorating for Christmas. Ever since I was a little kid, I can remember my parents house always being perfectly decorated with the most beautiful Christmas decorations. This year, she definitely did not disappoint. It's hard to pick favorites, but the mantle and the dinner table were probably my favs. She found this plaid fabric from JoAnn's fabrics and made her own table runner. She added these gorgeous glass goblets I got her from Potterybarn a few years ago. She found these great candle lanterns from Kirkland's a while ago and they completed the look perfectly.
This by far is one of my favorite Christmas tablescape's that my mom has ever done! It was such a great day and had so much fun just hanging out and watching movies with my family. I feel very blessed. I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas and get to spend it with those you love. Don't forget to be grateful for real reason why we celebrate Christmas!

Well my son’s bedroom is finally complete. He just turned one a couple weeks ago and I am so in love with his room and so ecstatic that it is finished. Whether we had finished this up before he was born or a year into his life like we did, his room would have always had this end result. I knew early on that I didn’t want a “baby-ish” nursery for him. I wanted something that would be cute and fun but also that he could grow into as a little boy. One day, my mom and I were talking and starting discussing vintage National Park posters that one of us had seen. Thus, the theme for my son’s room was born.
The basic colors are taupe, navy and chocolate. I gained inspiration from one of my favorite Instagram stores, Barn Owl Primitives for that sign. They had one like it, but I knew I wanted an orange one so I just freehanded it myself.
The wood wall is Barn Shake Redwood that is super thin. We had already done crown and molding in this room and didn’t want the wood to stick out too far and make it look awkward. My husband combined a couple different stains to achieve this look.
These are my posters that started it all. My husband and I both love to travel so it was important to use to use vintage themed National Park posters of parks we had actually been to together. Also, my husband BUILT those frames. I knew what I wanted and he delivered! I love how rustic they look and how they match my son’s wood wall.
Posters for this little boy bedroom are all from AllPosters.com in case you are interested!Read more link text
